PLAY AUDIO VERSION: voice of Roxanna Bennett Leanne Toshiko Simpson is a Japanese Canadian writer from Scarborough. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 17, she writes about navigating the mental health system. You can find her stories in Matrix Magazine, Release Any Words Stuck Inside of You: An untethered Collection of Shorts, and Unpublished City II. She was featured in Bell Let’s Talk, named Scarborough’s Emerging Writer of 2016, and is currently completing a novel about mental illness for her MFA at the University of Guelph. In her spare time, Leanne teaches creative writing at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and InkWell Workshops. Read or Listen to:
