I suppose I am an example of a human that is rooted.
It was not intentional – in fact my husband Ernst realized it before I did - sometimes he can be very insightful.
I grew up on a small, family farm. My father's practice, like other farmers of the time, was to plow and till the soil. After a summer's soaking rain, my sister and I ran out to the freshly tilled field in our bare feet. Stepping into a low area, we could feel the mud ooze up around our toes. Wriggling our toes and shifting our weight from foot to foot we could force our feet further into the mud – to our ankles.
We were planting ourselves.
About 40 years later Ernst and I purchased a bit of that land I had planted myself into, and called it Baba Link Farm.
