Poetry: TRACINGS

by Aaron Tucker

Black and white chain like image mapping a highway.

The Kamloops Indian Residential school <-> Lavington, 131 kms (Highway 6; Highway BC-97N)

These poems are part of a series tracing the highways between my childhood home in Lavington on Sylix Territory to each of the Residential Schools in British Columbia. The larger project, tentatively titled “Settler Education,” blends these mappings with found-text poems from high school and elementary school history textbooks from the last six decades of B.C. curriculum.
